Since the 1990s school curricula on the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal – for elementary, secondary and higher education – have been developed in various localities. See the write-up here about the struggle for such a curriculum for a Teach-In day in Oakland. For the 2014 struggle to teach Mumia in Oakland, CA, see the special page we maintain on the Home Page: SOLIDARITY WITH OAKLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT .

EMAJ is currently negotiating with key university educators to set up a MOOC online curriculum about Mumia’s case. As always, the aim is not simply to teach about Mumia Abu-Jamal, but about the broader political, social and community issues his case raises for us all.

Teachers wanting curricular materials on the case may wish to see the EMAJ instructions for teaching the recent documentary films on Mumia. See for example, regarding the film, Long Distance Revolutionary – The Journey of Mumia Abu-Jamal, our suggestions under “Teaching the Film,” and also “Study Guide: Questions & Topics.”
